Bumping the thread every twenty seconds is breaking one of the rules.
Bumps. Posts that bring a thread to the top of the New Posts list but add no content to the thread (bumps) are not permitted. This applies not only to posts that say "bump" but to those with the intent to bump, e.g. posts saying "anyone?" or the equivalent. See why and how to avoid bumping- http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=10708362&postcount=10.

Local DNS would be the main LAN side solution.
There are also programs that can extent Bonjour services outside the local LAN, but that would be a VPN side solution on the individual clients.

The last line of the first rule in style.css seems to be one of the culprits.
html, body, div, span, applet, object, iframe, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, img {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
border: 0;
outline: 0;
font-size: 100%;
}
If you change the value of font-size the fonts on the page adjust accordingly... except for the page you go to after clicking on Submit, where the Main Menu and Contact Info font size stay constant no matter how much you fiddle with that value.
Somewhere that font-size rule is being altered by another rule. Unfortunately there are so many levels of nesting in the HTML markup and unused selectors and rules in the .css files that I cannot even begin to guess at where that is happening.
My only suggestion is to make a new stylesheet with only the rules the page is using and then comment them out one by one, until you find the offender.

I have it working on Time Warner. Slow on 3G but it works
The cablevision app freezes from time to time over 3G. It's better over wifi.

I like the mba, but they are so god awful slow. Maybe im just used to fast computers but no way i could use current gen of mba. Maybe next time but 6 year old tech is a bit to old for me.

If they had them, and consequently added probably $100 or more to the price of the display, would you actually commit to buying one... today?
Possibly, but that's a limitation on LCD tech in general which will get better with time, but Apple LCD's at present are probably among the best computer LCD displays available. I don't know what else you'd do until the tech itself improves... except to say this: Those who are really serious about color, clarity and contrast should stick to CRT's for the time being. Nothing beats a Trinitron in this arena.
Probably... but the greater likelihood is that graphic designers who tend to buy the higher end Apple LCD's don't. Matte displays are far better for accurate color and contrast. Glossy displays falsely enrich the image, which is a problem if you're trying to maintain a color match from prepress to proof.
BANG ON MAN, BANG ON.

Please tell me why all of your phones are on their "last legs"? Do you all have dropsy or something?
I am still using my original iPhone (pre 3G), and it works just as well as it ever did. Still has the same flaws too.
But regardless, unless I drop it in the parking lot or something, I have no reason to believe that it won't still be going a year from now.
If you are spending your money on bigger/better/faster/stronger/new features, I understand that fully.
I don't understand why large quantities of people are commenting on why their phone is about to die?
Either they abuse their phones or are a member of the new generation who think that if a phone is 2 years old, it's on it's "last leg".
I told a friend of mine today who is thinking about buying the iPhone 4 but is worried about all this "outdated technology" talk that if he does and still has the phone 3 or 4 years from now, he'll still have a great phone.

And...just to prove my point. iClarified (http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=14467) has just posted that 4.3.1 has been jailbroken (NOT FOR iPad2!). But...look closely at what i0n1c stated...most importantly item c (quoted below):
"c. I am not giving out any ETA again, because the Jailbreak community is simply nuts. Last time I gave an ETA and even before that had passed I got constantly insulted by people that were demanding an immediate release. Sorry guys the more you insult people with the knowledge to actually do what YOU WANT the less motivation there is to use our free time to give it to you."
Comex is working on a jailbreak for the ipad2. It at this point is unknown when it will, if ever, be released. Patience is a virtue....
It'll be here for sure the day it's released :-)
I will say this forum is never short of misleading titles though, hehe.

Don't think a template will be a piece of cake either... to modify the template you will probably need some knowledge of html/flash coding/css/php/javascript/. You can also check out some Wordpress Themes like these:

I don't think this is the way to get music recommended. You really want to trawl through my collection of 14,000 songs? On top of that, other user's libraries as well?!
Either you have too much free time, or you'll realize how pointless this is.
I will just mention artists who I'd recommend - John Mayer, Newton Faulkner, Damien Rice (if you like acoustic), Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert (instrumental rock), Deadmau5, The Prodigy (electro/dance), Pete Rock, CL Smooth, LL Cool J, Jedi Mind Tricks (Hip-hop/Rap), and some Ministry of Sound Chilled albums if you wanna relax.

The problem for the other tablet makers, currently, is the economy. IMO, if you aren't first, then you need to do something to penetrate the market. (There are multiple "firsts", 1st to market, 1st competitor...) By the time M$ and others hit the tablet market, they will have to penetrate. Their hardware will have to be superior and expensive and they will have to sell for a loss.
This is where the economy comes in. No one's going to sell for a loss in a down economy. M$ xbox used this to penetrate the gaming market. If M$ didn't sell the xbox for a loss, the platform would never have been adopted and would have gone the way of so many before it.
The only viable option I see right now for a competitor to Apple, is Amazon. Apple is built and sustained by iTunes. If Amazon can re-create iTunes and make it available on Android/WP7/RIM, Apple will get a run for their money.
Amazon would be smart to become a viable iTunes competitor and then subsidize the cost of the hardware. Imagine buying a phone from Amazon with a carrier subsidization and an Amazon subsidization.

If I may, I'll add my question in here.
I've just had an awful time trying to put on the Cygnett OpticClear screen protector.
I cleaned everything down got started and somehow managed to attract some specks of dust. I did the tape thing, but ended up making more of a mess of things, and adding more specks to the screen :( - I had a similar nightmare putting the screen protector on my original iPad, but it worked out okay in the end.
I've ended up trying several times, but just can't get it to apply without problems, so I finally tried to clean the back with water. This seemed to get the little specks, so I tried to do an install while it was still wettish and just can't seem to get that right either. I think I may have screwed it up altogether, and will just go without the protector this time, (even though it cost me for this one.)
Any tricks? or is it just a case of too much dust floating around? (I promise the room isn't covered in dust, btw!) :rolleyes:
thanks

Thanks. For some reason my reference can make the script work with firefox, but for some reason when i check my source in firefox, the code in the header is all gray, whereas the reference pages's source work correctly. Makes no sense considering they are exactly the same.

In my experience, I have found this works best.
1. Put tape on the top corners so you have something to grab.
2. Tape the corners to the back of the phone/ipad
3. Grab the other end and pull tight
4. With a ruler slowly start at the top and press downward to apply the screen protector on the device evenly
5. Using the ruler again, work the bubbles out from top to bottom

Except for the downsides we're discussing. Macs being on the cutting edge of technology won't instantly transform the billions of web pages into scaleable, 'new web' sites. These sites are not going to instantly decide to redesign their pages at a higher dpi just because this new technology is out. It's not like they all redesign when bigger monitors come out. These transitions take many years.
At the very least, resolution independence is no worse than changing the display resolution. If you change the display resolution, the monitor is simply doing scaling automatically to match it to the native resolution. However, it's scaling the entire screen as a single bitmap. This is why the screen looks blurry if you run at anything but the native resolution. (Note: This is with LCDs.)
With resolution indepence, at worst you do the same type of scaling in the OS. However in this case, the scaling algorithm affects only one app, the algorithm can be updated, and it can be better than the one used by the monitor.

i think what cutyoursim is doing is quite legal.
My local vodafone charges 100euros (was 200euros last year) to unlock any iphone & get it registered on apple's servers.
It is not legal if they are doing it via illegitimate access to Apple's database/servers. That would be illegal.

Thanks, much appreciated. But, dang it, I can't for the life of me figure out how to send a PM. The option just doesn't seem to exist (I know, I must seem like a total n00b).
I think you need at least 5 posts to PM. Maybe more. Get to posting!

Hi, fairly new to the group.
I decided to change to apple affter borrowing my brothers Cube
ohhh now thats a classy looking thing.. :)
anyways, it just worked... after my frustration at windows crashing... for everything,
this just works!
so today ive ordered my first apple machine... and im wondering, have i made the right choice of mac for me?
i want it for graphic designing in photoshop, web design and the occasional audio recording using firewire...
I wanted a 17" powerbook for ages, but gave up on the idea as i though "do i really need to be that portable"
so then i though iMac? (knowing there was no way i could get a G5 AND screen - although ive been closly folowing the rumours beforehand...) but i figured that the 17" screen wasnt as big as the 17" i had been using on the Cube, it was just wider...
so i opted for the "Ultimate" G4 1gighz 1 gig ram eMac.
This has a bigger screen, still CRT flat (well basicly like the cube ive been using only with better specs and more ram)
i got this, airport extreem and also VPC 6 with win XP (i know ive gotta learn to let go) but anyways, ive herd that windows with VPC runs FASTER on a mac? is this true???
so what would you have gone for if you was me? did i make the right choice?
Matt
