Using GSP and Iphoto only makes sense if the photo's have the GSP location information as part of the photo. So that mean that the Camera taking the picture has a GSP reciever in it, which is great outside, but GPS does not work indoors
Maybe you can use the map interface to ADD the GPS infor to the photos. For example, first you select a few photos. then you select "change location" and then click on a map of where the images were taken. Later you can search on the location

im thinking of queueing up on thursday too. What time does it open? I have never queued for something on launch day before. Is it likely to be a HUGE queue? Will they sell out of iphones in hours? Can I reserve before hand?
Thanks in advance for help.
Joe
p.s. Also do you know if orange stores will be selling the iphone on pay as you go and have them in stock from thursday? Also if I was to buy one from vodafone on pay as you go(I know a guy in the shop), would it work on orange?
I'm not sure whether to go touchwood solihull. I haven't reserved but was hoping to get a 16gb white iphone 4....what are my chances?
Thanks in advance for help.

In contrast to the other thread, what things will you ALWAYS cheap out on?
For me its:
--Appliances (I have a $20 blender [it really is a piece of crap and can't cut ice or even power up enough to spin a blender with ice in it, this pretty much enraged me while trying to make a fruit smoothie the other night] and a $25 toaster oven). I would like stainless steel major appliances though.
--Dishes, every time I'm in some store that's selling teacups for $60 I just think "Who the hell needs a $60 teacup?" and then I think about the dollar store/IKEA plain white dishes I have and think to myself how awesome I am for being smart when it comes to buying dishes and silverware, lol.
--Toilet paper, I used to be a 2-ply guy like any other self-respecting individual, until the wife got me on 1-ply and seriously, 2-ply doesn't compare anymore, you can't get as clean with 2-ply as with 1-ply, this is not noticeable until switching to 1-ply, true story.
--Furniture, but make no mistake, I don't buy cheapo Walmart stuff etc. All of the stuff I buy is very nice and very stylish, but I don't need some $2000 dresser or sofa. I also like my furniture to be relatively compact in that I can't stand the enormous bulky eyesore couches/sofas most people have, so more compact stuff I think tends to be cheaper anyway (think like IKEA sofas). My $80 desk is also OK, certainly don't need a $1000 1-ton carved desk. When furniture is cheap, it's easy to deal with when you move and easily replaced for more modern/updated stuff.
--Household cleaners, generics are fine (except detergent)
--Medication, generics are usually fine
--Bath towels
--Haircuts, whether they are $10 or $50 they all look the same when you have really short hair like I do.
I probably sound like a slob who lives in an unimpressive place, but all of my clothes are quite nice/designer, nice watch, nice manbag, nice shoes, and my apartment is very modern and extremely clean, and well-kept. But for the everyday incidentals, I just don't spend much. Other than those necessary consumable things everyone needs, I tend not to be cheap with most stuff--if something isn't quality, I tend not to buy it.
What do you always cheap out on?

Great freakin day. I wish I could remember the guy saying to dump shares when it hit $320. "It's officially a bearish stock." Moron.

Yes, but would be better if the GPS were not reliant on the Cell network being available.
Maybe some cell network genius should come on here to explain things, but my understandin is that GPS and the cell phone system are 2 different things.
The GPS system receives information from satellites orbiting the earth and cannot receive inside buildings - it is all line of sight stuff - must be within the range of at least 3 to triangulate. GPS units transmit NOTHING back to the satellites... they only receive.
The Cellphone system also triangulates your position but does it based on the nearest 3 antenna... not the same satellites, but ground based antenna. The phone constantly alerts the towers that it is turned on so that it can receive the calls.

Nope. You'll have to use a server-side scripting language to add a class to the link for the current page, or manually add it to the appropriate link in the HTML on each page.
a:active doesn't do what you think it does. It only comes into play as the link is clicked.
a {
text-decoration:none;
color:#000000;
}
a:hover, a.current { // <- This will give your :hover pseudo class
color:#FFF; // and .current class the same appearance
background-color:#21B9FF;
}
<a class="current" href="thispage.html">Current Page</a>
<a href="otherpage.html">Another Page</a>

Anyone here who uses a stand with their MB Air? I'm looking for a small, stylish stand that angles the Air up slightly towards the back. I am currently using a belkin cooling stand, leftover from my MB days.

Any statistics available for those who have one vs the other by any chance?
See the AnandTech article or the referenced MacRumors thread. The Samsung drive appears about 15-20% faster in some of the benchmarks.

Not surprising. The MBA makes more sense for most users rather than a 13" MBP.

This is a sound move by MS. I wonder how many jobs get lost when a decision like this is made?
Probably not many, Astro studios did the hardware. And to quote them "We'd like to think we could make a dent [in iPod market share], but we're not jaded"

Thought it would be nice to mark the day with asking people to recall where they were at the time when they heard what was going on in New York and Washington... and to spare a minute to remember all those who were touched by these disasters
It was a hot sunny day in London, just after 2pm. I was off work and was at home having an afternoon nap but the radio was playing softly, tuned to a BBC news network. I woke up to hear the announcer saying something about a fire in the World Trade Center... turned on the television to see that the BBC had already gone to ABC's live feed. Sat and watched the next few hours with amazement and horror then had to go over to friend's house which I was house-sitting at the time to check up on things... I will never forget the expressions on the faces of those I saw walking in the streets of London that evening rush-hour.

There are no photos yet..but afterdawn.com has reported that Toshiba will release a5GB Bluetooth HDD (http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/3440.cfm) ideally for PDA's, but that dosen't that the iPod should be left out... because it sports the same drive from Toshiba!!!
Even thou it states that "Toshiba doesn't have currently plans to sell the drive outside Japan" doesn't mean that we can't have hope!!;)

You won't be able to get full res, but you could get a VGA-DVI adapter and try that.

Does anyone have a facebook fan page set up for your photography? I never really considered setting one up before. Just figured the website would be sufficient, and email for receiving messages and etc. But, today, on a whim I went for it and set up an artist page. It's actually quite interesting, and a whole different experience from maintaining your normal photography site. Actually, since I'm in the beginning stages of a new site design, which will essentially be a restructuring from the ground up for how it is utilized, do you think it is best to leave the interaction side of things to facebook and let the website be more of a deep archive of the work, resume, etc?
If you're interested in checking out the fb artist page I set up, which actually includes in progress images of new work I'm putting together, it can be found at http://www.facebook.com/andybloxhamimagery

It is exactly the same. I even tried putting my iMac on the DMZ in my router to see whether a totally exposed machine helps, but not so.
You are running a Apple router and I am running a Linksys with the stock firmware. I will screw around a bit more in both my mac and the router and see whether I can sort something out and keep you guys posted.
Your settings match the Photos posted on page 1? PM me your ichat/AIM name.

I am a television news story producer.
I tend to be editing video projects on my Powerbook, however I have run into a little bit of a snag and that is that I can not always leave my Powerbook "open" while it is rendering as I need to run to a series of meetings throughout the day.
Is it possible to set some option somewhere that will prevent my Powerbook from going to sleep?
It would sure make my life a whole lot easier, rather than needing to pause a render, close my PB, walk down the hall for a meeting, pop it back open, restart the render, open Pages and start taking notes.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The PowerBook can be made to run whilst closed, mainly in cases of running it with external kb,mouse and display. However you shouldn't need to pause a render when you close the lid, it should just stop and kick off again when you open the lid.
