So do the MBP boxes still have Tiger displayed on them?
Actually yes lol, I'll dig up my MBP box and show you (just got it a month ago).

It is a charger from a company rather than an official one, but all the voltage readings and so on are the same on both chargers.

Thanks for the link!
I took it to an Apple store today and they diagnosed it as the graphics card failure. They are replacing the MLB for free (would be a $863 repair otherwise..ouch.)
Knightrider, I suggest you do the same thing! It was a pretty quick diagnosis and I should have it back within 3-5 days.

This is just out today. HTC Thunderbolt outsold iPhone at Verizon. There's goes your cute little theory.
Make no mistake, this is an amazing quarter for Apple, but it's not the only one doing well in the smartphone boon.
You quoted a BGR story on a sourceless report from ITG, good show. I can throw up a blog and claim just the opposite if it makes you feel better.
The iPhone was the #1 selling phone (not smart phone) in 2010. You are getting excited that in its launch month a brand new phone might have outsold one that is almost a year old?

Superb thoughts, but I don't Know about the iBook being a 800 mhz G4:confused: If they put a G4 in it so early, it would be a 667 Mhz or a 733!!!;) :D

Lion still lacks Expos for Safari tabs. This sucks because it only seems natural to 3-finger swipe down in fullscreen Safari to see all your tab windows (as you would in any other program). Instead you have to remember you have a tab open and move the cursor up to the top of the window to reveal them.
Am I crazy or does this seem like pretty low hanging fruit Apple should be on top of?

Why should they make good quality headphones? Seriously, I really don't think that makes any sense for apple or the consumer.
Why should Ferrari put good tires on their cars?
Just think about it; here's a company championing (used to, anyway) their music player and how great the experience was, but then at the same time made sure that the final product (the music that enters your head) sounds like total ass because of 10 cent headphones they include with their premium product.
Same thing applies to Ferrari--why build an awesome car that's made for great performance, and then put 10 cent tires on it, resulting in a poor final product in terms of end-user experience?
A premium music player is useless without good headphones, just as a premium car is useless without good tires.
Putting crappy headphones in the box of a premium priced/marketed product is an oxymoron, and a bit of an insult to the consumer. And spare the "Oh but that would cost too much for the consumer", because that wouldn't exactly flow with everyone praising a $6B profit quarter.

Necessary information: I have a MacBook 13. It is on A/C power virtually all the time. (I calibrate the battery once a month, every month) When I go to bed, I do a shut down. During the day, after use I put it to sleep until I need it again. This sleepwake cycle occurs about 10 to 12 times a day.
I have been advised that it is better the computer to go into Preferences>Energy Saver and set sleep to never, as battery conservation is not an issue (alway on A/C power). Also to set the screen to shut down in approximately 10 min.
Which is better for the computerto put it to sleep after each use, or to leave it running all the time until bedtime shut down.
Thanks for your advice

I picked up a SonyStyle catalog last week and I noticed that Sony is also announcing a GPS add-on for their cameras. Presumably it would do the same thing. I guess the idea being you can track the locations of your photographs as you travel on vacation.
To each his own, I guess, but I thought that seemed pretty silly when Sony was producing it, and I still think it's silly even with Apple at the helm. I mean, sure, it's cool, but would I pay a couple hundred bucks for that? No. Definitely an early adopter toy.
However, I do happen to be in the minority of folks that has a good GPS receiver (in my case for geocaching (http://www.geocaching.com)) so it might just be that since I already have invested good money into existing devices that provide me the means of doing the same thing, I'm reticent to spend more on the same thing. It would be neat to see more integration between, say, Bluetooth enabled GPS units (which exist) and digital cameras.

Jump over to XDA and search. It's there. Not the most fully baked solution yet, but at least it's something.
Here is a list of things that do and do not work. like i said earlier, until google finds a way to update all the phones to the latest OS. Android sucks!!
With that said, a short list of things that DO work.
Radio works fully - Calling, SMS, Data
Bluetooth works for music only.
Wifi works fully.
Sensors work, but may be slow. Run /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha in terminal or via adb, place the phone on a flat surface, and hit Enter. Reboot the phone and sensors will function at normal speed.
What does NOT work ::
GPS
Camera
HW Acceleration in UI and in video, etc.
and 4G (might never work)
If this is acceptable to you, I have a slightly used bridge for sale. You can have it for real cheap.

What about the Cisco AnyConnect app? I keep reading old news how it'll be released when iOS 4 is - so where is it? I want this but can't find it in the app store. Or is it something your network admin has to get from Cisco and install for you?

When I encoded Tron Legacy I ended up clicking on the Picture Settings at the top after selecting the iPad preset and changed cropping from Auto to Custom. From there I adjusted cropping settings down to 0 which gave me a resolution of 1024x576. During playback when there are 2.35.:1 scenes, there are lighter black bars due to the actual resolution of the video, but during the IMAX scenes those bars aren't there (of course the "iPad's" black bars are still there due to it's 4:3 screen). So basically the encode stays at 1.78:1 the whole time with "extra" black bars for the 2.35:1 scenes.
I never checked on the chapters option so I'm not sure on that.Bingo. You are The Man. Using the cropping option to set all to zero resulted in a 1024 x 576 movie with black bars during the 2.35:1 scenes.
Thanks! :)

It's saying it on both iTunes & the phone, so would this be some sort of horrific software coincidence or a hardware fault do you reckon?
did you already try to restore as new phone?

The point is, Apple needs to show labels that the ITMS is selling music in order to persuade the labels to sign and renew agreements. So if DVD Jon's SW, and other similar SW, weakens or cripples sales from ITMS then there is a problem.
I don't thing this will happen, however. As others have said, Apple's ease-of-use is one of their larger advantages. The richness of the ITMS, Apple's deep marketing pockets, etc, all play into the continued dominance of the ITMS.
Additionally, it will continue to be very difficult for any other company to kill Apple on price per track, as the labels are already pressuring Apple to bump the prices up. Newcomers will of course feel that same pressure.
I can only see this as a good thing for Apple. They don't make much, if any, money off of iTMS sales. They run the store at cost or near that to fuel the sale of iPods.

On the playback side, few people realize just hwo cpu intensive h.264 is, even a 1.67ghz g4 will drop fraims at 720p let alone 1080i/p. You definantly need dual G5 2.0Ghz cpus or better for smooth 1080p playback. Thats part of the reason why there are so many specialized chips used in the industry to decode h.264, like in the ipod which can barley handle its low resolution decoding of h.264
Yes, this is true, but the original poster was asking about working with the footage with FinalCut Pro.
I'm not certain, but I don't think the video from the HD Sony camcorder is encoded with h.264. I believe it's HDV, which perhaps is less processor intensive.
So basically, the question is whether the OP could work with his HDV footage on his 1.67-G4-PB with reasonable system responsiveness?

There are threads here that talk about what PITA it is to replace the hard drive in a 2010 mini. Considering it myself. I might just wait to see if apple puts a sandy bridge 4 core in the next update. The current hard drive is slow. If I do any upgrades, will put a 7200 hard drive and replace the optical with a ssd drive. I already maxed my ram to 8GB.
When will be the next update??
